How Many CCTV Cameras Do I Really Need?

How Many CCTV Cameras Do I Really Need?

The short answer: it depends on your property, not a fixed number. Start by listing what you want to watch — gates, entrances, compound perimeters, car parks, and interior rooms.

Start with the entry points

Cover every door and gate first. These are where most incidents happen and where you want clear, face-level footage.

Then cover the blind spots

Walk around your property and note areas you can't see from inside. These are your blind spots and the next priority.

Quality beats quantity

A few well-placed, high-resolution cameras usually outperform many poorly placed ones. Overlapping coverage at entrances is worth it; cameras pointed at blank walls are not.

Every property is different. A short site assessment helps you avoid buying too many — or too few — cameras.
